About us:
Fiona studied music performance at Leeds College of Music before completing her PGCE in Secondary Music. She has worked in secondary education for the last 25 years as a classroom and instrumental teacher of Music and Performing Arts.
Fiona holds a 100% pass rate for students taking instrumental and theory exams through the Associated Boards of the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity College London with most achieving high merits or distinctions.

Leah Waddington graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2023 with a First Class Honours in Music Performance.
When she’s not assisting her mum in teaching at Boroughbridge Academy of Music, Leah is travelling the lengths of the country performing at weddings and parties under the name LA Sax.

Fiona is an amazing musician and a fantastic music teacher!
My 2 daughters started learning piano with her from when they were six years old and Fiona was very friendly and patient, making the lessons fun and engaging from the beginning. They also had woodwind lessons from her, saxophone and clarinet, inspiring them to carry on with both instruments up to Grade 5 and beyond. Fiona taught them musical theory too, enabling them to pass their Grade 5 theory exams.
Due to her infectious enthusiasm for playing music, they both still love to play, not only on their own but also in all the various bands and orchestra at school. My eldest daughter also attended saxophone summer school and Fiona personally took her to a great saxophone day in Manchester. She always went out of her way to help and encourage the girls. My daughter said, 'I'm so glad I had Fiona as a music teacher, because of her I never want to stop playing music.'

Learning to play an instrument is one of the most exciting things you can do!
It’s also important that you are properly equipped from your first lesson.
We have purchased all of our musical instruments over the years from Windstruments & Music House who are a company we value and trust. As with all things, you get what you pay for and your music is definitely worth investing in to get the most out of your lessons. They offer some fantastic deals on rental and purchase of all the instruments we teach. They are also stockists of all the books and materials we would be using.
